" Surf City 10/31/12 II "
...It appears I could not put a Reply up...More...
More female Bat-stuff included some female Robins...nice ! :-)
A man in a teddy (old-fashioned sorta " sexy " underwear ) and fishnets and sorta high-heeled dancer high-heels...Not really " in drag " , as he was not made up or nothing...nice :-) .
People with a cardboard thing around them that they had to hold up to keep up...One of the mitts , the one whose " folder " around him , maybe had to have his hand on one part . One person had a big-sized feproduction of an old-style X-Ray Glasses advertisment , with his head , in those sorta specs , sticking through a hole in the ad...Someone else had a rather lazy what appeared to be an orange piece of cardboard w/a hole and the name " Zig Zag " scrawld upon it...Still , mybe it was a virtuous " homeade costume/the best he could do " that I should not critisize ???

" Halloween In Surf City "
Last night here in Santa Cruz , which is a big college town as well as a somewhat " old-hippe/surfer dude " town with a " Keep Santa Cruz Weird " self-image much like that of Austin , I guess , I glommed the Halloween night " parade " ( It's not a formal " parade " , maybe not one at all---folks mill back and forth downtown , maybe with some formal musical/stunt types going in one direction . Rather like the original " Easter Parade " that Irving Berlin in the early 20th Century wrote his song about ? ) . It's more adult-oriented , a kid-oriented Trick or Treat runs downtown earlier in the day .
Among costumes I saw:
At least 4 Mitt Rommneys , one of them with a store mask , three just combing back/slicking their hair , at least three with a " binder...women " of some sort ( One had both sides of a large card/piece of board around him . ) Two looked like maybe they were together but maybe they just coincidentally came by close together . One of them and another saw each other , apparently for the first time , and greeted each other ! I'd seen one store-mask Obama at the kiddie event...
Someone with a hammer mask upon his head ( Headhole for looking out . ) , and a sign on it - " Maxwell's Silver Hammer " . Not sure about " having to have a sign " to explain your outfit...
A coupla " 60s mod/Austin Powers " types and a couple - a few more , I believe - " 70s swinger/lounge rat/singles bar/disco " types , were they from movie characters or generic ones ?
Quite a lot of Bat-persons , male Batmans and females in Bat-outfits of some sort - a lotta Batgirls , it seemed , mostly the 90s/early 00s Batgirl , IIRC .
Early one I saw someone with MMouse eals upon a spaceman-type outfit --- Presumably a Disney-buys-Lucas comment ? If it was , and it was a Star Wars character , it was an obscure one ( Not much a SW fan I . ) .I was hoping for more . I saw maybwe one presumed Indiana Jones , no mouse or duck beak on he .
